An Adverse Beginning
James was born in Denver and raised in by his mother and her family. His father, an alcoholic, was absent for much of his childhood. Many of his first memories were the endurance of abuse from his first stepfather until the age of four.
At the age of 6, his mother married a wonderful man he was proud to call "Dad". Just three short years later, his father died of cancer.
Growing Inspiration
James attended parochial school from the age of 10, where his faith provided him stability and structure that was difficult to find during his earlier years. His experiences inspired many questions and his thirst for knowledge continued to grow.
As a teenager and young adult, James branched out, learning of many different philosophies, cultures and religions. He began challenging everything and everybody in his life; searching for answers.
He chose occupations in various fields including Military Service, Real Estate, Finance, Design and Construction, Training, Management and Emergency/Medical Care. These vocations gave him solid understanding in all aspects of community development: Experiencing blue collar and white collar jobs; Experiencing success, as well as struggle.
From Hardship to Healing
In 2005, the most difficult of realities occurred, one of his adult daughters was abducted and sexually assaulted by two men while walking home from work. Eventually, they let her go, she was found safe and the men are serving life sentences in jail. James was devastated. In this time of uncertainty, he turned to the only one who could help him move beyond his anger and fear - God. He began to return to his roots, integrating his life experience, his studies and his faith. James found his niche in serving others. As a result of his passion, Axis Healing was created.
